What’s Reiki?

Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. It’s not connected to any religion or religious practice. It’s not based on belief or suggestion. As your Reiki practitioner, I serve only as a channel for this spiritually guided energy. A person receiving Reiki obtains the healing needed at that given time because it’s intuitively guided by the Higher power or Higher self of the recipient. Reiki comes from the Japanese word ‘Rei’ (meaning Universal Life) and ‘Ki’ (meaning Energy). When a person’s ‘ki’ or energy is strong and free flowing, their body and mind enjoy a positive state of health. But when this energy weakens or becomes blocked, it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

What is Reiki used to treat?

Reiki is great for stress reduction, relaxation and overall wellness. Reiki isn’t a cure for any disease or illness but can be used as a complement to traditional medicine. Reiki aids in the healing of injuries, headaches, burns, muscle soreness, chemotherapy treatment, post-surgery recovery and chronic conditions. It also heals emotional issues – fears, groundlessness, mental issues, anxiety and worry – and gently restores balance to the recipient’s entire system, rather than focusing on current symptoms. Disease, physical injuries, pain, emotional traumas associated with abuse or regrets are all addressed with Reiki because the system is holistic, balancing all out in the name of its highest good. Reiki can also balance a recipient’s chakras.

What to expect during a Reiki treatment

Please Note: Reiki is meant to be used as a complement to traditional care or as a personal relaxation or stress reducing tool. It is not a substitute for qualified medical or traditional care. As your Reiki practitioner, I never diagnose, guide or predict the outcome of a treatment(s).

I perform a Reiki treatment by using specific hand positions placed on or above a recipient’s head and body. The recipient remains fully clothed (except for coat and shoes) while comfortably laying atop a massage table or seated in a chair. My treatment is very pleasant, relaxing and invigorating. Recipients experience the power of Reiki in their own unique way: some feel warm, relaxed and may fall asleep. Others may feel emotional during or after treatment, while some experience visions and colors within their mind’s eye.

Summarizing Reiki

Reiki is a balancing energy. What is in excess, Reiki lessens (like pain). What is lacking, Reiki increases and fills. Reiki restores and balances the recipient’s physical, mental and emotional energies. It puts the recipient’s physical body in the best condition to promote healing. When anxious, Reiki relaxes. When in pain, Reiki can reduce or eliminate it. When emotionally upset, Reiki can calm and balance emotions so situations and problems are seen more clearly.

Reiki is not a one-shot deal, however. A lifetime of bad habits, trauma, fearful or anxious thoughts, poor eating habits, etc., don’t occur in one day. Like any chronic disease or condition, it takes time and treatments to bring the body back to balance.

I cannot ‘fix’ or ‘cure’ a recipient. Reiki is not a substitute for medical care. I serve only as a channel to bring this universal energy forth. It is the recipient (their Higher self) who is responsible for their own healing. I can facilitate healing and guide a recipient through the process, but if a recipient doesn’t seek positive changes concerning their given issue (counseling, changing eating behaviors, eliminating negative thinking, avoiding harmful relationships and situations, etc.), then they may not see the changes or results desired.

Reiki connects the universal life energy with the body’s innate powers of healing. I can even send healing to those living at a distance (known as distance healing or distance Reiki).

Reiki always holds the intention for the recipient’s highest good!
